About Me

Hello there! I'm Tri (pronounced “tree” 🌲), a User Experience (UX) Designer based in Austin, TX working on Google Maps.

I love that UX allows me to blend technology, science, and art. My goal is to design interfaces that are intuitive, fast, and functional without compromising the aesthetics. I want my work to allow beginners to feel welcomed and experts to be effective and efficient. My career includes both UX research and UX design experience.

During my master's degree with focuses on applied cognitive psychology and human factors, I completed an internship with NASA, supporting the design of a prototype wearables UI for astronauts on extravehicular activities (EVA).

As a UX research analyst, I contributed to the UX and market research reports in a consultancy with clients such as Dell, Verizon, and H-E-B.

After pivoting to UX design, I started in B2B and enterprise: helping prototype accounting software in a fintech company, and also ideating print and ship solutions for Staples' distribution centers across North America.

Recently, I supported Google as the sole UX designer for two children's educational products, CS First and Applied Digital Skills. I regularly worked cross-functionally with product management, program leads, curriculum writers, UX researchers, and software engineers.

I did my own stakeholder and project management independently, while creating designs for both products simultaneously. In my design process, I gather the business and user needs while being mindful of technical constraints. Prototypes and illustrations are conceptualized, tested, and iterated upon with the collaboration of the greater team.

I’m currently working with the Map Experience team for Google Maps improving core map elements such as iconography for roads and points of interest. I work end-to-end, from the visual design to the implementing the production code.

My journeyman UX experience covers a variety of companies and industries. I have and will continue to be systematic and flexible, eager to adapt to whatever comes next in my career.

In my free time, I enjoy (attempting) to teach my cat tricks, science fiction, photography, hiking, college football, and music (including pretending to be a musician).

Thank you for visiting!
